My mother was shopping in Michael's and came across this Red Velvet Cookie Cottage Kit and had to get it. She knows the kids and I like to make holiday crafts. My kids love building gingerbread houses during the holidays which can be fun but also stressful as the icing takes some time to dry. What caught my eye on the Cookie Cottage Kit box was it said link & lock for easy building. Well, that sold me! Could not wait to try it out.
My older son and I had so much fun putting it together. The link & lock feature made it so much easier to put it all together. We did not have to wait for anything to dry and were able to complete the whole kit with ease. Of course, while we were putting it together, we were both eating some of the candy. But we still had enough left over to decorate the cottage.
We need to still work on our icing skills. It is not easy to ice the sides of the cottage once it is all put together. Next time we create a cookie cottage of gingerbread house we are going to try to ice them first and when they dry build it. This might help the icing from dripping.
